BILL'S RACING BIO

Bill's interest in drag racing began in junior high school while watching a young Doug Nash work on his racecar in a small garage in Garden City Michigan. Bill began racing on the streets of Detroit in the early 70's and contributed a large amount of $$$ to the remodeling of both Redford's and Dearborn Heights' police departments.  He graduated from high school after winning the high school drags in 1973.

After receiving his bachelors’ degree from the University of Michigan in 1976, he went to work for the Hewlett Packard Company. During this time Bill raced his 1968 corvette in numerous autocrosses and high-speed road course events. In 1981 he married Marsha (the most important part of his able crew today) and opened his own business, Michigan Collision Experts. The collision shop grew to be one of the largest independent shops in the Detroit area boasting the highest quality repairs. It was also known for its restorations, producing several show winning muscle and nostalgia cars.

Bill returned to drag racing in 1988 with a Dodge Challenger, winning numerous events in the Pro Class. In 1991 he stepped up to Super Pro with a Pustelney chassis/MCE built show worthy 69 Camero. Almost every weekend you would find Bill and Marsha competing at one of the two local Detroit area dragstrips. However, the thrill the low 9-second zone Camero provided eventually wore off.

In 1995 Bill and Marsha completed their Mondell chassis built 93 Chevy Cavalier. As Bill's experience and knowledge increased, the Cavalier's ET's decreased. The Cavalier has run numerous 7.0's at 200 plus MPH and has raced almost exclusively (and very successfully) in Top Sportsman and Quick 16 events since 1999.

In 2004 Bill and Marsha began testing their new Skinny Kid Race Cars built Pro Modified Pontiac Grand Am and quickly realized there was a  huge learning curve ahead.  The beginning of the 2005 race season was difficult but the Raging Eagle Racing team finished very strong with Bill setting new personal best ET & MPH records.  The 2006 and 2007 seasons were two years filled with ups and downs, however, as  knowledge increased, the downs and carnage decreased.

The 2009 season was hugely successful for Bill and Marsha and a seasoned Raging Eagle Racing Team.  It was one of those rare years in racing where everything went as it should, thanks to a veteran crew, a relentless crew chief, a good driver and a great race car.  The Raging Eagle Racing Team compiled a round win percentage of 84%, dominating the competition with unbelievable consistency and a very fast race car.  The result was Bill's first Pro Mod championship.
